IN A WORLD WHERE TEAM MEMBER RETENTION IS THE BEST RECRUITMENT STRATEGY, IT MAKES SENSE TO CONTINUE TO INVEST IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR TEAMS. DEVELOPMENT DOESN’T ALWAYS HAVE TO REVOLVE AROUND THEIR SPECIFIC ROLE OR RESPONSIBILITY AT WORK. IF THEY LEARN HOW TO BE GOOD STEWARDS OF RESOURCES AT HOME, HOW MIGHT THEIR STEWARDSHIP BEHAVIORS CHANGE AT WORK AND BENEFIT THE WORKPLACE?
AS A BUSINESS OWNER, SOMETIMES IT'S DIFFICULT TO COACH TEAM MEMBERS AROUND STRATEGIES OF PERSONAL BUDGETING, PAYING OFF DEBT AND BUILDING WEALTH. PERSONAL FINANCES CAN BE A VERY PRIVATE TOPIC FOR PEOPLE DEPENDING ON HOW IT WAS DISCUSSED (OR NOT) WHEN THEY WERE GROWING UP. THERE CAN ALSO BE SHAME OR GUILT AROUND WHERE THEY’VE BEEN, DECISIONS THAT HAVE BEEN MADE OR THEIR CURRENT FINANCIAL SITUATION.
I RECENTLY HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO COACH THE TEAM AT A LOCAL INSURANCE COMPANY. THE OWNER WANTED HER TEAM MEMBERS TO BE EMPOWERED TO BE SMART WITH THE MONEY THEY EARN.
