I was one of them.

In 2009, I walked away from my marriage with my car and my wedding ring. That was it.
 

It took over a year of renting and saving before I was able to buy a house of my own. And when I did, I stretched myself too thin. I couldn't cover all my bills. I turned to credit cards. And from there it was a slow downhill spiral that I didn't know how to stop.
 

When I met Kent, I came into the relationship carrying a weight I hadn't fully named yet. Guilt. Shame. A financial picture I was afraid to show anyone, including myself.

Thankfully, we worked through it together. We paid off $147,000 in debt. We rebuilt. And that experience became the foundation of everything I teach today.
 

But not every woman has a partner to rebuild with. And the financial aftermath of divorce is not equal. Women's household income drops by an average of 41% to 50% after divorce, nearly double the decline men experience, and roughly one in five women falls into poverty as a result.
